In 2013, Höyry saw the light of day – since then we’ve been refining our strategy, design, technology and content package to better serve your goals. Our agency works with you to understand your business goals and objectives, then creates a tailored plan to help you achieve them.
What is Höyry?
Höyry (pronounced “hoy-ru”) is a creative agency and WordPress expert. Our services fall into three main categories: project business, marketing collaboration and WordPress-related maintenance & website development. Most of our clients fall into several different categories.
For some of our clients, our role is to act as a trusted strategic partner, supporting them in all their visibility, digital marketing and online challenges. Through long-term collaboration, we understand our clients’ business needs and build sustainable solutions that drive business growth and productivity. For others, we are a skilled technical implementer, able to build modern online services that work, and solve problems related to online visibility and sales. In the same way, our wide range of skills allows us to play different roles in communications and visibility.
Whatever our role, we strive to build long-term relationships with our clients, where trust and open communication are key. We have been working with some of our clients throughout Höyry’s history, since 2013.

Sami Halonen
Sami has worked in sales, marketing, and project management since 1997. In 2011, he started as a project manager at an advertising agency, and over the years his role has covered everything from lead generation to preparing proposals and planning content. At Höyry, Sami is also responsible for the company’s administration.
Virpi Vainio
Virpi, who leads Höyry’s Oulu office, is a versatile expert in design and marketing communications with 18 years of experience. Her dual Master of Arts degrees have proven to be an unbeatable combination in the field. Virpi’s strengths include brand building, customer insight, and concept and campaign design.
Kalle Tapio
Creative director or creative generalist. As an entrepreneur, my role is to lead the creative process and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget. Sometimes I’m the one digging, sometimes I’m leaning on the shovel explaining exactly where to dig. I started my career as a graphic designer in 2004, and my path toward becoming an entrepreneur at Höyry began in 2013. Brand design, digital marketing, and developing customer-oriented web services have always been particularly close to my heart.
Jussi Tuoma
Jussi is a full stack developer specialized in WordPress-based solutions. Over the past 12 years, he has delivered large-scale travel portals, ecommerce platforms, and numerous corporate websites. He has also built integrations between websites and third-party systems using available APIs.
Robin Francett
Robin is a full-spectrum web solutions specialist with fourteen years of experience. As a software engineering graduate, he has deep expertise in both back-end and front-end development, where his visual eye adds clear value. He works with precision and considers multiple perspectives in every project. In addition to websites, he also delivers ecommerce solutions.
Jaakko Ylikulju
Jaakko is an experienced design professional with a solid understanding of code as well. Since entering the field in 2011, he has designed and delivered comprehensive web solutions, logos, and visual identities. One of Jaakko’s greatest strengths is his ability to distill a client’s core message into a concise and visually striking form.
Ilmari Saari
Ilmari is a website and digital service designer specialized in WordPress builds and visual UI design. With a background in design, he focuses on user-driven insights and striking solutions that stay clear and functional. Ilmari has broad experience in designing websites and ecommerce platforms, and he’s motivated by helping clients move their business forward
Jarno Ruokamo
At Höyry, Jarno finds solutions even to the most complex technical challenges. With a background as a trained electronics installer, he also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from an English-language university of applied sciences program. Over the years, he has gained broad experience in programming, embedded systems, and telecommunications engineering.
Sini Liikanen
Sini, soon graduating with a Master of Arts from the University of Lapland, is a designer with skills in layout design, advertising, and the design and delivery of websites. She has also built previous work experience in journalism, which is why writing and content creation are close to her heart as well.
