Project Starting Points

Partnership with Finland’s largest Korean cosmetics online store, Bearel, and Korean cosmetics importer, Beautykon, opened up the opportunity for us to develop an entirely new domestic cosmetics brand. Smuuti Skin is specifically designed for Generation Z, so it was important in brand development that the concept is high-quality and engaging to young people, attention-grabbing and distinctive, and fits the values and budget of the target audience.

Korean cosmetics for everyone

The trends in the cosmetics industry emphasize K-beauty, natural cosmetics, and veganism, which are mostly available from specialized cosmetic stores. There was a clear market gap to launch the products in supermarkets for everyone’s reach. We designed Smuuti Skin’s brand image, packaging concept, and social media templates. Target groups were involved in the design process in the form of A/B testing, allowing potential buyers to comment on the brand image and packaging appearance already in the design phase. The work also included extensive competitor analysis to ensure distinctiveness at sales points.

Social media sensation boosted sales

Smuuti Skin products were heavily hyped on social media even before their launch. When the products went on sale in January on the Bearel online store and in every Prisma in Finland, all four products sold out in just a couple of days. The success was due to a market gap, targeting the right audience and engaging them at an early stage, the appeal of the brand and packaging, the price, easy availability, and skillful use of social media. We see that the job of the brand and packaging designer is not only to design beautiful packages but to make the defined customer profile choose this specific product over all competing brands. Only then has the designer succeeded in their work. We are excited to have been part of Smuuti Skin’s success story, which continues elsewhere in Europe—as our client succeeds, so do we.

Revamped Website

In addition to brand work, we designed and implemented a revamped website for Smuuti Skin, aimed not only at Generation Z but also at companies and retailers interested in the products. The site provides comprehensive information on Smuuti’s product families, brand, and values, while being visually appealing: delicious colors, large and high-quality images, and playful text content come together to form an attractive entity.

An important part of the website is the Smuuti Skin School section, which gathers information related to skincare. The page contains informative articles on various themes, advice on skincare basics, and instructions on how to use Smuuti’s products. We also designed and implemented a skincare survey on the page to help determine the most suitable Smuuti products for individual needs.

Marketing that reaches

Smuuti Skin’s marketing shines with versatility, creativity, and playfulness. In addition to social media, the company participates in various events both domestically and abroad. We have comprehensively designed and implemented marketing materials for the company across different venues: displays for Sokos beauty weeks, end-of-aisle displays for Kicks stores, stair and floor fixtures for Prisma stores, and partner materials for Finland’s largest festivals, such as Ruisrock. On our workbench, we’ve also crafted launch materials for Smuuti Skin’s new product lines, patterns for giveaway products, playful sticker sheets, as well as more traditional magazine and light board advertisements.

Versatile and visually creative marketing increases the company’s visibility, sparks interest, and broadly reaches beyond the main target audience.

Exhibition stand in Italy

At the Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna trade fair in Italy, beauty industry companies and professionals from around the world can discover the most intriguing players and phenomena in the field. The fair is held annually and is one of the most significant networking events in the industry on a global scale.

We had the opportunity to design Smuuti Skin’s exhibition stand from its structures to the props: over 30 square meters of deliciously edible colors and forms in a style characteristic of the brand. The wavy wall and floor structures created an inviting and memorable space where visitors could chat with company representatives next to giant fruit figures and explore product samples and brochures under a cascading canopy. The finishing touches of the stand were complemented by atmospheric lighting elements embedded in the wall structures and logo sign.
